A couple of weeks ago I came home and my wife was being extremely nice to me. Almost too nice. She pointed over the the counter and there was my CHEMEX with the top cone cracked and held together with tape. After seeing the tape, I asked her did she think I wouldn’t notice but she assured me the tape was there just to keep the pieces together until I came home and decided what to do with it. She told me she banged it with a plate while putting away the dishes.
Obviously, the CHEMEX is ruined. Its made of glass, and there is no warranty for damage. So if you are thinking about getting a CHEMEX, remember its glass, so be careful. I have already replaced it it with the same model. I think the coffee tastes much better made in the CHEMEX.
Before my CHEMEX went into the recycle bin, I removed the wood collar, rawhide loop and bead. They sell these as replacements so I’ll keep them in case I need them for my new CHEMEX in case.
