Unboxing Monoprice Performance Instrument and Vocal Mics

In my latest video I unbox two microphones from Monoprice.

The first microphone is the Monoprice Performance Dynamic Instrument Microphone. The microphone comes with a pouch and clip. It does not include a foam windscreen. The package does not contain any documentation and it does not include any information about the microphone’s pattern or other specifications. I’ll add them here when I find them. The microphone looks very similar to the classic Shure SM-57. The microphone is labeled Stage Right Model600057 giving a clue that this mic is indeed an SM-57 clone. The Performance Dynamic currently retails for $25. The Shure SM-57 retails for $99 so if the Performance Dynamic sounds similar it may turn out to be a bargain.

The second microphone is the Monoprice Performance Condenser Vocal Microphone. The microphone comes with a pouch and clip. It does not include a foam windscreen. The package does not contain any documentation and it does not include any information about the microphone’s pattern or other specifications. I’ll add them here when I find them. This microphone looks very similar to the Shure Beta 87A. The microphone is labeled SR, which I assume means Stage Right, and the model number is 600087. This microphone retails for $80, but is on sale for $40 at the time I wrote this. The Shure Beta 87A retails for $250, so if the Performance Condenser sounds similar it could turn out to be a steal.

You can order these microphones directly from monoprice.com.
